Entering Isle of Palms,  South Carolina, while driving over the Isle of Palms Connector surrounded by the marsh, the Intracoastal Waterway, and facing the beach and ocean is one of the most breathtaking sights in our area. The Isle of Palms began welcoming visitors in the latter part of the 19th century. At that time the only way to get on the Isle of Palms was by water and a single railroad bridge. The ease of access to the island today by the Isle of Palms Connector has played a major role in the increased popularity of the island. This barrier island has a perfect blend of fulltime residents, investment owners and visitors who make the Isle of Palms their home and destination. The island is seven miles long and one mile wide and offers year-round moderate temperatures which make it the perfect vacation destination.

Recreational activities on the island include surfing, swimming, windsurfing, surf casting and offshore fishing for the salt water enthusiast. Riding through bike paths, enjoying the wide, sandy beaches, organized sports programs, tennis and skateboarding are activities any land lubber would enjoy. Numerous shops offering retail and specialty goods, real estate offices, a grocery store, restaurants, banks, schools, and churches are all located directly on the Isle of Palms. However, if you wish to commute, Mount Pleasant, SC, which is right over the Connector, offers a hospital and Towne Center, with even more shopping opportunities and a movie theater.

At the northern end of the Isle of Palms is the Wild Dunes Resort which offers residents and visitors two18 hole Tom Fazio golf courses, tennis courts, restaurants, swimming pools, and The Boardwalk Inn and Grand Pavilion overlooking the beach and ocean.  The Isle of Palms is only a 20 minute drive from historic Charleston by way of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge over the Cooper River.
